The Divine Word Missionaries (SVD) and the Australian Association of Mission Studies (AAMS) held a national Conference in October 2025.
The Divine Word Missionaries celebrated 150 years since their foundation, with a 3 day symposium preceding the Conference.
Venue: Yarra Theological Union Study Centre, 98 Albion Road, Box Hill, Victoria 3128
The two-day event brought together academics, missiologists, and mission practitioners from Australia and beyond engaging in an ecumenical conversation towards awareness, sharing, and practice of being a missionary church. The Conference traced the roots of Missio Dei through the World Council of Churches, the Lausanne Conference, and Vatican II. The Conference was held in the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325-2025) and this was explored in relation to implications for mission today.
