On behalf of the Australian Association for Mission Studies (AAMS), I welcome you to our website. This ecumenical Association brings together Christians who are interested in the study and living out of Christian mission. Dedicated volunteers, who have experience of mission and study, undertake the work of the Australian Association for Mission Studies.
On the website you can read about our activities, including:
- Study of Mission
- Cultural Engagement
- Affiliations and Partnerships
Members of AAMS have access to an ecumenical, academic journal on Christian mission studies, which is published twice a year. Our mission journal offers a variety of perspectives, which I have found both stimulating and enriching. You will have the opportunity to engage with and enjoy many faces of mission.
Conferences provide a valuable opportunity for theologians, missiologists and searching Christians to contribute to the public discourse. The Association was excited to co-sponsor the fifth AAMS conference with Whitley College, Melbourne in 2017, focusing on the theme: Reimagining Home: Understanding, reconciling and engaging with God’s stories together. Participants shared stories related to indigenous peoples, migrants and refugees.
AAMS has now been invited to partner with Morling College and the International Association for Mission Studies (IAMS) to organise the 15th Assembly of IAMS to be hosted at Morling College, Sydney, 9-14th July 2020. The conference theme is: Powers, Inequalities and Vulnerabilities: Mission in a Wounded World.
Please take time to scroll through the website to discover more about AAMS and I encourage you to consider joining.
