President’s greeting

Xiaoli Yang, President, Australian Association for Mission Studies

On behalf of the Australian Association for Mission Studies (AAMS), I welcome you to our AAMS website.  AAMS is an ecumenical association of Christian missionaries.  Our members promote the study and living out of Christian mission through theoretical reflection on lived experience.

On our AAMS website you can read about our activities, including:

  • Study of Mission
  • Cultural Engagement
  • Networking
  • Conferences & Events
  • Publications
  • Sharing & Research

AAMS publishes the biannual Australian Journal of Mission Studies (AJMS), an ecumenical, academic journal on Christian mission.  The variety of perspectives covered will introduce you to the many paths and faces of Christian mission.

AAMS also promotes national and international conferences on mission studies in which theologians, missiologists and searching Christians can contribute to the public discourse.

In 2022 AAMS is partnering with Morling College and the International Association for Mission Studies (IAMS) to organise the 15th Assembly of IAMS to be hosted at Morling College, Sydney, 7-11th July 2022. The conference theme is, Powers, Inequalities and Vulnerabilities: Mission in a Wounded World. The activity of AAMS during 2022 will be closely focused around our involvement in this Conference.

Please take time to scroll through the website to discover more about AAMS.  I encourage you to consider joining so you can enjoy the benefits of membership and contribute to this important discussion on Christian mission in Australia in the 21st century.
